History of
Termomeccanica

"A hundred years of experience and challenges have taught us the humbleness needed to win against time. The lesson is to rely only on the aptitude for renewal, in the continued search for the value of the product. But it also contains a reminder that there can be no company without values within its comunity, or without the identity and pride of each of its members in doing their job.

With this awareness, we look ahead with the certainty that we will overcome the challenges of the unknown, again and again".

Dr. Enso Papi – Chairman of Termomeccanica Group - on the occasion of the centenary celebrations (1912-2012)

Today

2012

Growth in the 2000s

More than 15 years of privatisation show positive results and the company can celebrate its centenary year (1912-2012). The group has regained credibility on the national and international markets, achieving leadership positions in the main businesses in which it has concentrated its presence, namely, that of ecological systems and pumps and compressors for industry.
The progressive development of the Group's competitive capacity was matched by increasingly solid profitability. Employment increased from the initial 400 employees to 1000 in the period.

1995

TERMOMECCANICA became a private company

On 12 January 1995, the Commissioner of EFIM in liquidation, Prof. Predieri, sold the company to a private group composed of Dr. Enso Papi, Banca Intesa (then Cariplo), Carispe, the Municipality of La Spezia and companies formed by managers and employees of the company. The presence of an employee representative on the Board of Directors was an example of original research to share the challenge of relaunching the company.

1950

In the 1950s

Since the 1950s, the company has expanded its scope of activity to environmental plant engineering, first in civil and industrial wastewater treatment, and later in waste treatment and disposal and energy production from renewable sources.

1934

In the 1930's

In 1934 the company became part of IRI, taking the name TERMOMECCANICA ITALIANA for the first time and becoming, from that moment on, a company with public capital.

1912

The Termomeccanica Group was founded in La Spezia in 1912 as "Società Cerpelli & C." and later became "Termomeccanica Italiana S.p.A."

The company designed and built machinery for both fluids compressing and pumping in the industrial and marine sectors.
During and after World War I, machines were produced with all kinds of engines: mechanical, electric, and steam, for industry, the Merchant Navy, and the Italian Navy.
